I have a friend that just purchased a '92 Pathfinder V6. It broke down, when the timing chain snapped and one of the rods started cutting into a cylinder wall. I don't have any idea what kind of engine the Pathfinder has, except that it is a V6. We are also looking to put a new engine into it. I just need to know what engine the Pathfinder already has, and which engines will swap in directly. Also, if anyone has a good running engine, we might be interested in picking it up.

92 pathfinder has the vg30e engine that is more or less the same engine as the same era of truck and the early 300zx from the 80s. it has a timing belt, single overhead cams, two valve per cyl, oversquare, and one long lasting proven design(if not the most high tech). there are so many out there im sure you can get one cheap from a junkyard.
