I have a 2004 Pathfinder that had the power valve screws in the intake back out and fall in the cylinders and fry the engine. I have 33,000 miles on the car, but I am past the warranty period by six months. Nissan refuses to replace the engine under warranty. This is the same probelm that the Altimass and Sentra's have seen which is recorded on TSB NTB05-058. I am writing letters to both Nissan North America and NISSAN Motor co. I have also contacted Newsday and will be sending them all the info. If anyone else has had this problem, please contact me at [email protected] so I can have more info to fight with.

Thanks,Gary

I have now been told that it is not covered under the powertrain warranty because the screws that fell in to the engine damaged it.

Can you believe this!?!?!?

Thanks,

I've already posted there and any other Nissan forum I could find. This is my third Nissan that I have purchased new, so I am really pissed that their not standing behind their product for a loyal customer. On top of this, I have a 2005 Spec V that I have been having problems with, but I can't take it in because it's my only car right now. And now there is the massive recall on Altima's and Sentra's which my car will probably part of.

fueler,,do you happen to have a diagram that shows how to get to those screws? i was reading that link in your post above and am having an oil consumption problem like was discussed in that, about a quart every 1500 miles. i figured if i was gonna have the top end torn apart to replace the valve cover, might as well get to those brass screws too.

i read on another site thats its apx. 1 in 1000 cars, no real rhyme or reason as to which ones do it. about the only thing i know of to do is tear it apart and loctite the brass screws or have a mechanic do it.
