Recently I posted an issue regarding my 1999 Pathfinder throwing a P0340 code.however, I do not know what happened to it. Nevertheless, I resolved the problem.

Symptoms - Engine would randomly refuse to start, and die while driving with lack of power. Loosening the the distributor bolt and moving the distributor back and forth would allow the engine to start. The distributor was replaced due to unrelated diagnostics purposes. Installed was a Premium brand from O'reillys. After two replacements the issue continued.

Fix - Original distributor was reinstalled and the new distributor was returned. O'reillys salesman indicated he had same problem on his Maxima with the same distributor. After reinstalling the original distributor, problem was resolved and pathfinder has run fine since.

Recommendation - Do not use Premium brand distributors, go with an American or Japanese manufacturer.

Loose wiring, perhaps?
