Hi all, I am new here not only to NICO (great site by the way!) but also new to my 2003 Nissan Pathfinder SE. I am located in Brooklyn NY. I am wondering if there is a forum for ppl who are new to the Pathfinder and who would like to learn more about it. I would like to learn how to take good care of my baby, doing basic stuff such as monitoring and changing simple stuff under the hood (filters, engine oil, liquids, spark plugs etc..) What to look out for, tips of the trade to get the Pathfinder on tip top shape. This is my very first car and I love it. Any help to get me started would be greatly appreciated!

I second that motion.Lots of good info sharing and ideas. I've learned a lot since joining, and I've saved a lot of money in the process. For me, that's saying a lot. I'm an old fart (two grandkids already, but always a kid at heart), and I'm still learning.I log on at least once a day just to see what's up.Have fun, and welcome.

Look through the stickies. There are FAQs and other tips in there.

If you have specific questions, just ask and someone is likely to help you out.

Everything I have done to my QX4 and my Maxima I found help with through a forum like this one. I have literally saved thousands of dollars.

Thanks guys, appreciate your input. I will definately look through the forum. Just to get me started, let me ask you fellas what motor oil would you recommend for my pathfinder SE. And as far as gas goes I usually stick with premium, is that commendable?

I would use whatever grade the manual recommends and I say synthetic is best if you plan on keeping it a long time. Otherwise, I wouldn't waste the money.

I would use plain old regular if you're at or close to sea level. If you're above 2500 Ft, I'd use mid grade. Premium is a waste unless you need because it's knockin.

Save your money and run regular gas. I've been doing it for years with no ill effects. As for oil, I run Mobil1 5w30. My truck still runs great (I don't baby it). I'm at 180,000 Kms now and it still goes from oil change to oil change without losing any. Knock on wood, or something like that.

Hey guys, I opened up the hood and found out it had extremely low levels of engine oil. Boy was I lucky to check. Who knew what damage it would've done on the engine If I kept on driving. So anyways I only had Shell 10W40 and poured the whole bottle into who knows what oil was originally in there put in by my mechanic when I first got the Pathy. Oooo this is exiting stuff. I can't wait to play with it. Possibly add tints to the front two windows, HID lights, MP3/Navi system. Simple projects for this beginner! With the help of you guys of course as time goes along.

The pathfinder is very easy to maintain but do have a few problem (minor problem but are easy to fix). if you search through the forum you see what i mean.
