So...

Ordered moog coils front plus rear and new kyb gr-2 struts for the front, its back to factory now!

Found a great deal on springs.. $31 for BOTH new rear and $52 for the PAIR new front, springs look to be OEM quality and rides nice so far.

Might be selling the 20s this week, if anyone is interested in the lowering coils let me know...

Heres 2 quick pics:

Hey, where did you buy the coil springs? Rockauto doesn't have any, and I don't really know any other reputable auto parts websites. I changed by shocks and struts with KYBs and the ride is just aweful. I'm thinking that maybe it's due to 14 year old coil springs.

Lemme call dibs on those lowering springs!

Even though I probably won't have the money for a few weeks...lol.

Love your pathy btw, what I based a lot of my build off of.

I just realized that you have a pathfinder! They have coil springs for pathfinders, but not QX4s. I figured that they would be the same, but I guess not. I just don't know what to do regarding that rubbish ride quality...

Qx4 is just different body panels, everything else is all pathfinder.

Look-up a pathfinder from your year of qx4 and check, i see you have a 1999.5 so it should be all the same parts my 2002 uses from shocks, struts to springs, only reason im not 100% sure is because i have the 3.5L and the 3.3L chassis may be slighty diff from the 3.5L but you can also look up a path from 2000 year as those came with 3.3 and i think early 2001s also.

Towncivilian should be able to answer if chassis is the same from 1999.5 to 2001-2004 3.5L paths, if it is just lookup 2002 path on rockauto and you can get everything i got for super cheap.

Based on the Courtesy Parts listing, post-facelift Pathfinders (at least, 99.5 through 2001 MY production) should use the same coil springs, as far as I can tell.

Hmmm Interesting. Usually rockauto has pretty accurate parts listings, so I find it a bit odd that they don't list any QX4 coil springs. I'll have to look into it some more. Thanks for the info guys.

Hi DAiNiUS, I'm new to the site and saw your post. I just purchased a 98 QX4 and I'm in the learning curve. I want to replace the suspension and I am encountering the same obstacle with Rock Auto. Did you ever find out if the Pathfinder rear coils are interchangeable. I called Moog and they told me they don't offer rear coils for QX4. I can't find anyone offering OEM springs for a QX4, but they all offer Pathfinder. This all seems strange.
Any feedback would be great.

P.S. Thanks for letting me join your site everyone! Great threads on here.

Hey. I haven't had the time yet as I'm studying for my exams, but I'll look into it some more once I'm done. If moog said that they don't offer coils for QX4s then that must mean that the pathfinder ones won't fit. It's really odd. I'll let you know if I find anything.

FYI - I ordered some standard Pathfinder coils from Rock Auto and they went into the QX4 just fine. They sit just slightly higher for a nice look. I used some cheap harbor freight spring compressors and avoided unhooking any linkage whatsoever. I compressed the springs to avoid wrestling with the compressor bolts and then lowered the axle and pulled them right out. In my opinion, worth the 15-20 bucks for the compressors to avoid wrestling with linkage. Pretty simple job with air tools.

I have used harbor freight spring compressors before, they barely lasted me 2 front struts lol!

I just rent a quality spring compressor from advance auto parts, its $50, once your return it, $50 refunded, basically just a deposit, but in the end free rental.

Haha! Yeah, this is my third time using them and they completely bent. I didn't know the rentals were that cheap. Good to know - thanks!
