2002 Pathfinder Le idles very high when braking

Hi, has anyone experienced this problem? my 2002 pathfinder le wants to keep going when I brake. rpm stays at about 1000rpm and if I put it into neutral it races to about 2000 rpm drops to about 1750 for half a second then back to 2000 and repeats this until I punch the gas pedal then it will settle down to normal. This is really messing with my fuel economy. Thanks in advance for any help on this one Chris

Almost sounds like it could be a Throttle Position Sensor. I would test the voltages at the sensor to see if they're surging when this problem is happening.
