Pathfinder cutting out

My 1989 Pathy is cutting out or something like that...Thought maybe it was a vaccum line but felt it best to ask here before digging around under the hood when I don't know what to look for.

It does it whether the engine is cold or hot.....

Ideas anyone????????????

does it only cut out on accel or does it do it at cruise and at idle too?

I am having a similar problem. Yet, it is not consistent. However, this has been happening for 6 days. It seems after driving a long distance, it begins to cutout, while accelerating and idling. Now the SEL is on. In the past, I have had the SEL come on with O2 sensor problems. However, I have never replaced it. It remains intermittent. Is it the sensor, the fuel pump, etc?
