Pathfinder 05 factory trailer wiring troubleshoot

My aftermarket wiring is not working and I'm in need of some help. Bought a cheap converter, followed the directions. Probed the wires on my vehicle to make sure they were correct twice. Checked the ground directly to the battery and still my turn signals will not work when connected to the trailer. The trailer is wired correctly, checked it on my friends vehicle. Cut off the vehicle end 4-way connector and inserted the wires directly into the traile 4-way connector. All was good. Replaced the vehicle end connector with a new 4-way flat.... same crap turn signals stop working.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Brake lights and running lights work.

I know at my nissan dealership there is a voluntary recall for this problem, may invovle changing the bcm, or adding a sub harness... I'd call a few dealerships in your area to see if you are eligible for the recall.

called Nissan and ran my vin # ... no recall but thanks for the suggestion. May try just rewiring to my vehicle lights.

You need a conversion box because you have separate turn and brake lights.The conversoin box is just four diodes, you can get them in any auto partsstore. And there's one somewhere in the factory harness. You can either replaceit, or get a plug and play harness that plugs into the tail light plugs.

Have you tried a different trailer?

Update: Factory wiring harness had the running lights working but no other power. Didn't see any blown fuses, so thought it would be easier to run new wiring from the vehicle lights.

Aftermarket installation: Power at the trailer harness. When I attach the harness to the trailer lights, turn signals stop blinking. No brake lights. When I check with a test light the harness works as it should. I removed a trailer light and it worked as it should at the harness but when the attaching bolts touch the chasis or trailer frame, they stop working. Think the chasis of the vehicle has a ground issue where it has some current going through it?. Looking at removing the fuses on the trailer tow package to see if this remedies the problem. Any input is appreciated.

*Friend tried his vehicle at the trailer and the trailers work fine.
