I recently got engine light on. OBD II code turns out to be P0138 Rear O2S, Bank 1 Maximum Voltage Monitoring.

It is Pathfinder 01 4X4 manufactured in 12/00.

Could anyone tell me where REAR BANK1 O2 located? Driver side or passenger side?

Many thanks,

Kevin

Sensor 2 (rear) on Bank 1 is located to the left-hand side of the engine when stood in front of the truck (i.e. on the passenger side), to the left of the engine cover. From there, it goes down behind the engine to the actual sensor in the exhaust just after the cats are.

Changed the sensor, it works fine right. After I disconnect the left rear O2 sensor, OBD shows P0140, which means rear bank 1 sensor no activity. That validates what you told me. Thanks again.

bank 1 sensor 2. I'm trying to figure out where this sensor is and if it's feasible to change it myself. does anyone have a diagram of the location? Also what the part number is at the dealer?

any other tips on replacing it?

It is not hard to figure out the location once you get underneath. It is on the exhaust pipe close to passenger side wheel. Got O2 sensor from oxygensensor.com, and it took 40 minutes max to change it. The biggest challenge is to take the old one out. Get yourself a big wrench.

thanks for the help. will i need to do anything else once I replace it? I read somewhere about reprogramming the computer or something like that. so I take your last post to mean that I'll access it from under the vehicle vs. through the engine compartment. Please confirm.

Thanks again. Andy

I forgot to ask you if there was any problem with driving the vehicle before changing the sensor or if it would cause any damage to other parts. thanks again. andy
