I just got back from vacation and went in to check on any updates from my past posts and while my control panel shows that I have a total of 16 posts, when I click on them to get the list it gives me the message "no suitable matches were found". I get the same result when I click on my user name from within a forum topic. I know they haven't been wiped from the forum, since when I go into my most recent post from mid-January (by tracking down the topic itself) my post is still there.

Is anyone else having the same problem?

Thanks, 280zx. At least I know it isn't just me. There has obviously been a system change or glitch somewhere. Maybe if one of the moderators sees this, they can check into it and let us know what has happened. Hint, Hint!

Looks like you guys fixed the problem. The search engine seems to work good, too. That's what I call Quick Great Service. Thanks.

Now if we could only fix the random log out issue :).

It's not an issue with cookie settings on the PC end, I worked in support for many years (now a Network analyst) and I've done everything possible on the browser end to nail this down to no avail. Only happens with NICO (I'll open the browser, click on my NICO favorite and realize I need to log in again). All of my other forums that I frequent are on vBulletin (except for iSceneM - not sure what that one is exactly).

Google Chrome v24.0.x. This has been happening ever since I joined. Happens probably once a month or so.

Providing that level of detail helps - Let me ask about it.

Since you're looking into it, it happens to me, too, on IE8 on WinXP. I wouldn't say once a month, although I would say sometimes more often than others. I just assumed the servers got reset on occasion and didn't store whatever information would be necessary for the cookies to maintain authentication across those resets (be it a reboot, a service restart, or an upgrade). I've seen it on a phpbb forum as well (at different times, making it less likely to be my browser). One additional thought I just had is it might be related (at least in the monthly Google Chrome case) to browser updates, if Google releases them with consistency. I know a lot of financial sites have to remember your computer and can't remember it anymore once the browser has been upgraded (requiring security questions to be answered to get the new version remembered), and it seems possible that the cookie used by nico could be the same kind as those. I have only noticed that behavior with FireFox upgrades (both minor and major), and not minor IE ones, though (I'm running 8 on XP, haven't done a major one in a long time), which is why I say it could be the case in the Google Chrome scenario.

We're running phpbb as well, so it actually points more towards a browser issue.

Our web guy has a laptop that's been logged in to NICO for 16 months (it's kind of become a running joke to see how long it'll stay logged in), despite multiple changes to the site & servers.

The problem with login issues is that there ARE so many browser choices (and versions)... most people don't keep them updated, and recently, we spent HOURS chasing down a login issue on a member's computer - turned out, he had installed some 3rd-party "safe browsing" widget that was clearing his cookies periodically. Grr.

For monthly login, I'd be inclined to say that's acceptable, and about on a par with browser updates.

Glad to see that the search function has been resolved. Thanks, Greg! :dblthumb:

Sorry I have not checked here for a few days now, folks. An ultra bad case of the flu has kept me in trouble ... and, at my age, flu can be a serious issue. :(
