I just got a note from my insurance company stating that based on vehicle mfg info they received I may have a Passive anti theft device on my 1993 240sx SE convertible.

Quote »This type of system activates automatically when you turn the ignition key to the off position and disables the vehicle by making inoperative the fuel, ignition, or starting system.[/quote]Do you know if I have this on my car? I can get a discount on my comprehensive insurance if I do.

passive means you dont have a siren that goes off if someone is trying to break in your car, BUT if they try to drive it away it wont start either from a modern form like nats or from the old way of a starter interupt. do you have a factory alarm...secuity light that flashes or something, you can test it by rolling down windows and auto locking doors wait about a minute or so and then reach in and unlock the door by flipping latch, not lock switch and see if the alarm goes off. if not go ahead and get in and try and start car and you will see if you have an alarm...to disarm just lock/unlock with the key in drivers door. hope this helps

Thank you for your reply. I guess I have nothing, as I don't have any flashing alarm lights or anything.
