Sorry if this has been covered, but If you bought you 240 with the sr in it how did you find your way through Inspection and Emissions? Im thinking about buying one for the first time. Im a CA18 and KA guy so I figured I do something different. I found a hatch with a redtop in it for real cheap but I dont want to invest in it if I going to have alot of trouble. Thanks

It really depends on where you live and what they look at to pass you. For example, here in the STL for safety they just look at things like exhaust leaks cracked windshields, brakes, tires etc. and you only have to get emissions inspected if your car is 96 or newer. All we do is plug in a computer to the OBDII port and it looks for DTC's and unset monitors, you are only allowed to pass if you dont have any DTC's relating to emissions s*** and if a certain number of monitors are set. long story short, go to a station, see what they look at and then post it up here to see if we can help you.

The same way you did with the CA.

Dan: would they fail in MO for a test pipe instead of a cat-convert on a 93'?

They can fail you for the test pipe. Most places here wouldn't care. I think STL has emmisions tests where springfield doesn't. They may be stricter for you.

Well I just passed my saftey inspection and they didn't even check emissions. But I believe when they put my car up to test brake and stuff and they see no cat-convert they can fail me. I don't have a test pipe yet, but might by the end of the day.

My cat is old and stinky.

My sr powered 240 passed all, but idle (high HC). 50 bucks said it did! Haha!Having a friend or a buddy (tech) to overcome this is a plus.

yes it just depends on the inspector. I know one guy that doesnt even lift the car, just checks brakes, tires, glass, wipers, lights, and anything obvious. But I know other inspectors that go thru it with a fine toothed comb. They would fail for a half cracked motor mount.

If you have a aftermarket turbokit, can you get emmisions even with a nonstock computer??

Like you said, it depends on the inspector. Anything aftermarket is questionable. Find someone that can pass emissions and inspection for a reasonable price. Someone like a buddy.
