Hey guys,

Where I live in QLD, Australia is currently being battered by Mother nature and a lot of places have been left without power, including where I am.

To cope with the boredom I watched a DVD in my car last night and discovered that my passenger side window is beginning to s*** itself. It's extremely slow, almost as of it's gummed up and at a certain point, it makes a horrible noise.

I know the windows generally go slower without the alternator supplying power, but the drivers side window is much faster and smoother even without the engine running.

Here is a video, sorry it's really poor quality. I'll try to get a better one tomorrow.

Anyone have an idea of what is going wrong with the car and how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Trent

Yep, the motor is on its way out. Don't bother going to Nissan, cause last time I checked, there was 1 left in the parts system, and they wanted $830 for it. That was 3 years ago. You'll most likely have to buy from a parts car. There's a ton in the classifieds section.

It's a pain to do by yourself, but doable. Get a helper to hold the glass if you can though.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. This is my problem, lol:

Thankfully it's not the motor. When I push the strip out of the way, the window is fine :)

Oh, so it's just the weatherstripping. That's an easy fix. Good thing you found the real problem without replacing a window motor. That's a royal pain. I've done two in my time, and I think it's one of my least favorite things to do, second only to the door lock.

TL;DR working inside the door sucks balls.

Working on the heater core has been my least favorite thing so far. I think it was actually easier to pull the engine and put it back in. At some point I'll have to open up my doors tho because the speakers are blown

Speakers are no big. It's when you have to do stuff in the door frame is when it sucks hard.

Working inside the doors of any car is annoying because it's so tight and you can't see anything, lol.

The worst job I've done on my Zed so far would have to be he passenger side turbo water line (drivers side for US). I've only had the car since last August, the only work I've really done is fit an FMIC, replace the radiator, change the plugs, bypass the turbo water line, bypass a hard pipe that hangs off the intake pipe for the recirc valve, replace the brake pads and some other stuff.

I had the engine replaced but I didn't do that work.
