lol that is weird, because if the button was stuck in the down position it would not want to go up, unless it is stuck but moveable, and then goes back to the down position once you let go. does the window go back to where it was exactly like if it were only open half way, or does it go back down completely?

That almost sounds like the anti-pinch mechanism kicking in, thinking that the window has caught a body part or something. They're supposed to open if they register too much resistance, wonder if either it thinks that threshhold has been met, or if there's a lubrication problem and that thresshold HAS been met.

I agree with the pressure sensor diagnosis, it is a common safety feature and as with any electronic sensor there is a possibility of r/f interference or any of a large number of other faults. Is it possible that your friends window was left open in high humidity or rain? That might explain it. Or it could be just a freak defect in the sensor itself. I would try a pure silicone lubricant in the window track and on the moving parts of the regulator (the scissor like mechanical part). This will require removing the door panel, so if you are not familiar or comfortable with doing this I recommend you take it to a dealer for the service.Besides it should be a warranty item. -Chris

There was a 2 year old toddler that was killed when her mom left her in the car for 5 minutes. The kid got out of her car seat, walked up to the door, stood on the arm rest as she looked out the open window. Her foot stepped on the window button and the window went up and choked her. A passerby found the kid, reached into the car and opened the door. Got the kid out of the window and placed her in the car seat, and then went to call 911. While the passerby went to call, the mom came back to the car, thought her kid was asleep, and drove home. It wasn't until she got home that she realized her little girl was dead.

If only those windows had the anti-pinch feature, at least one life would be saved.
