Passenger window not going up as it should

2017 Nissan Versa Note and the window does not go up smoothly. We have to manually with hands raise one side or the other to finally get it up. One article - video mentioned it could be the window regulator.

In the past on a totally different car the glass was held in place by a metal guide. We had no problem getting to it through the door panel. We ended up just letting that rear window stay up and not used.

Anything we could do to rectify the issue or better diagnose? It's not our car but a friend's and they are on fixed income so repair by dealer may be the last resort fix for them. Thanks.

The Note window regulators use a geared lift arm, and if any of the rivets or the sliding pivot wear out, the window becomes unstable. Depending what's worn out, sometimes they can be repaired with bolts and washers, but there are tons of good used ones on eBay for $30 and up. Here's a pic of a typical unit:

This one is a manual crank but the power ones use the same setup, just motorized.
