Passenger side window won't roll up - it's the window regulator, right?

I asked this question about half a year ago and that was my answer. One day I tried to roll the window up and I heard a crunching sound. And now the passenger side window rolls up to only halfway. I've been driving around with the window like that for the past half year, but now I think I've got the motivation enough to fix it.

Where can I buy a window regulator? I don't want to go to a dealership to buy a completely brand new one and I've never been to a junkyard before. What are my options? Are these my only ones?

I don't think I'll have a problem with the actual replacing, there are lots of helpful threads in this forum that I'll follow. I'm just wondering on where I should get a window regulator to begin with.

You really should take the door panel off and look to see what's wrong. I've had to use stiff wire to reconnect the little square ball on the cable to the plastic (you'd know what I mean if you saw it). The plastic piece is formed onto the cable and loves to break away from the cable. If there's something jammed in the track, you may just be able to un-jam it and put the door panel back on. Do an autopsy and see what you need is my suggestion. Otherwise look on ebay, this forum, or junkyard for a replacement. If you think it's brushes in the motor to blame, turn the key on, hold the little switch in the window up position, and slam the door shut a few times while holding the switch. That'll often times free up a seized power window motor and get you back in business. If ya don't use it, ya lose it! However, with the crunching noise I'd just take the door panel off first.

I've got a regulator from the 94Q I parted out. I'll email you.

I am in the same boat here. I heard the crunching sound, pulled the door, got the regulator and motor out, and the plastic piece is snapped off. The cable is frayed beyond repair. Motor works fine. I cannot seem to find a junkyard near Temple/Killeen TX with any Q45's in it.

The car has 145,000 miles on it, raido works when it feels like it, engine pings, and the rack is going bad. Really don't want to put much money into it. I have been trying to find a way to jerry-rig the window in the up position actually.

If you have a regulator for sale fairly cheap, please email me. This car may soon be parted out the way it is going.

Where do you push the ball that is connected to the cable into the plastic at? I'm having the same problem that my window on my infiniti q45 will not roll up. Motor sounds fine. I have the door panel off and see what you are talking about, but do not know where to push it into the plastic at?

Well I had a hard time really seeing anything until I pulled the whole assembly out. If the metal ball end is out of the plastic piece, I would bet the plastic piece is broken.

If you want to pull the whole thing:With the window down, unbolt the window from the slide assembly. There are access holes in the bottom middle of the door.

Next, unbolt the motor and cable assembly. There are three bolts that hold this in.

Finally, unbolt the actual slide itself. This is the long track the window slides up and down on. Two bolts at the top and two at the bottom.

Now you can pull the entire regulator assembly out and get a really good look at it to see what is going on. Pull it out from the big access hole towards the outside of the door(right bottom when looking at it).

From this point, I just used a bungee strap, for now, to hold the window up, and replaced the door trim.

Someone here was gracious enough to give me a great bargain on a used window regulator
