Post

Hi all:

It's been a while since I posted anything and have been winterizing all my cars lately including the Q. Installed new tires, new front strut cartridges, strut mounts and bearings, tightened up the power sunroof motor (excellent write up on here!!!), cleaned the air intake system, TB and EGR passages.

Now I was looking to clean up the grime in the engine bay with a light degreasing when I noticed what appears to be a ground cable from the engine on the passenger side that is not connected. For those of you who have followed my postings, I had a replacement engine installed in my car a couple of years ago after I spent lots of time, money and hairpulling trying to fix the ticking lifters only to have the coilpacks take a sh*t on me at the same time. Instead of spending $600-800 on new coils only to install them on the noisy engine, I found a replacement engine with only 60K on it for only $375.00 and just swapped over my assessories and installed the whole engine, coilpacks and all including a replacement steering rack assembly for only $1K including the price of the engine. The shop clearly underestimated the time and expense needed to swap this engine and I was not going to say anything. Since then, the replacement engine has not given me one issue and has been silky smooth (and quiet) like it is designed to be.

I have to assume that when the shop did the engine swap, they did not hook up that ground cable, but without cleaning that area up and sticking my head under there, I have no idea where it attaches to. Right now, the loose end of the ground cable (I'm referring to this as a cable because it looks like a battery ground cable as compared to a thinner diameter engine wireharness wire) is sitting loose near the power steering reservoir lines and the passenger engine unibody frame rail. Does anyone know where I need to hook this cable/wire to? And, since I don't have the bolt used to attach it, does anyone know whether it bolts to the unibody frame with a particular size bolt?

Any information would be great since I don't like to have this cable loose even though there does not appear to be any running issues or CELs. I just like my engine bay tidy with everything where it is supposed to be!!

Let me know and hope this finds everyone well on this site.

Ted
