Just so you guys know Im in the process of converting a passenger side seat that I got for free from an undisclosed NICO member (THANKS!!!) to a drivers seat. my interior is pretty much mint except the drivers seat has some cracks (which I was stupid and neglected, the drivers seat was mint when i got the car)
I havent installed it fully because IM going to check and see if an upholstery shop can build up the bolstering a little bit. Ive determined that the different feeling I was getting in 90-93 Qs is in the seats how they hold you. You feel like your sitting in them vs on top of them... So I want to see if the upholstery shop can make that feeling on a 94 seat a little better..
What I did was unbolt the seat bottom from the frame rail and the passenger seat pad bolts right onto the frame rail. All of the power motors and junk stay on the frame rail. I havent messed with the seat back yet as Im not sure how thats going to work... All of the stuff is inside the frame and Id like to keep the lumbar, but Im not sure if thats gonna be easy. It may be easiest for the seat back to switch the cover, but I didnt feel like digging that deep into it. You may have to remove the seat cover anyway to get the brackets off... Im betting the pads are different.
Im going to do a full writeup later so stay tuned!
So if you guys see passenger seats in good shape use them on the drivers side. The seat bottom is bolt on with a few things you have to switch and the seat back im working on a solution.
