I've owned the car for about a year and never got around to fixing the drivers side passenger door lock. All the other locks work fine but when I try to lock the passenger door from the inside using the master switch or arming the car using the remote it won't activate(lock).

Does anyone know what could be the problem ?

Thanks!!

Does it work if you use the switch on the passenger's door? If you manually lock it, will it unlock?

None of the door switches work on that door(they work for all the other doors just fine). I can manually lock and unlock it from the inside just fine.

You said "drivers side passenger door lock". Isn't that a contradiction in terms? It's either the driver's side or the passenger's side. And it is the front door, right?

Assuming it's the front passenger's side door, we know that the Smart Entrance Control Unit and fuses are good because the rear locks work. My guess is that it's either the solenoid or the wiring in the door or the wiring in the door jamb. I'd start by pulling the inner panel off and checking for a bad connection or cut wire. Then unplug the solenoid and measure the resistance of it (should not be infinite). You can try firing the solenoid by putting a fused 12V across pins 1 and 3.

Ok I guess I wasn't clear. It's the left rear passenger door( pretend you're sitting behind the driver). I'll try to pull the panel over the weekend if I have time and take a look.

When you say solenoid you mean actuator right? Thanks for helping!

Yes. I mean the actuator.

One more thing: there rear doors have disable mechanism. On the 2001 it's on the edge of the door. That MIGHT be
involved, but I THINK it only affects unlock or maybe just the switch on that door.

What I said about the front passenger side door applies to the rear driver's side door too.

Does the problem door unlock?

Yes the problem door will lock and unlock manually when you flick open the lock from the inside. I can open the door from both the inside and out. I'm leaning towards the actuator right now but won't know for sure until I pull the door apart. Could be a pinched wired as you said earlier.

Nope, that's the problem, it won't lock electronically.

Have the same problem with my Driver side lock I believe i need a new actuator. The Door lock doent open/close with any switches on the passenger/driver switch pad nor does it open with my remote. It does open/close when i insert the key in the driver side door. If i insert the key into the passenger side door the lock doesnt open/close. Basically i dont use my keypad and i open my car with the key and lock it manually sucked but i got used to it.

Yeah, it's nothing major just sort of a hassle for passengers to get in and out or when I need to get stuff from the back seat.

I have the exact same issue. What's interesting though is that when you put the key in the drivers door you can lock/unlock all doors using the key (by turning it twice if I recall correctly). I've yet to take off the door panel and see what's going on under there, but I probably will do so in the next few weeks.

The problem is the weird handle on the door. If the wont open using any means possible you will have to remove the interior door panel. It can be done with the door in the locked and stuck position. Remove the trim around the out side of the door. This the the rubber weather stripping. Then remove the 3 screws that are located behind the two knock out round groumits. One is on the door pull and the other is larger and on the arm rest. Then pull up on the power window pad. You will find the last screw that holds the door panel on. Next with the window up pull off the door panel and lift to remove. Locate the bar that runs up to your outer door handle and pull it to release the stuck door. After the door has been opened remove the outer door handle. Two bolts behind two rubber groumits. After the handle is removed inspect the outer handle. Mine was rusted in the stuck position and would not release causing the door to be in the locked mode. The outer handle after it is removed will need to be wd40 ed or greased . I used the white grease. Spray the spring and work it real good before reinstall. During this process if the rod that goes from the handle to the inside of the detaches dont panic , just slide the rod back down thru the door and set it back in place into the blue clip. It took me about 45 minutes the hardest part was removing the door panel. Hope this helps.

My 2008 3.5 SL Nissan Altima front drivers side power door lock doesn't work. I got a new actuator put in but the power door lock still doesn't work. All other power door locks are working except for the front drivers side. It only opens when manually pulled open from the inside. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I’m having the same problem on my 2011 Rogue. I just bought it and didn’t realize the back two doors don’t lock/unlock with the key fob or by the controls on the driver arm rest. Front driver, passenger, back hatch work fine. I found some broken glass in the pocket on the back of the front seats so maybe a wire got pinched or knocked loose when the window was replaced? I watched a YT video on relaxing the actuator and it looks complicated. Guy did it in 21 minutes; would probably take me 6 hours.
