...failed me because my check engine light won't come on. Any ideas what to check? ECU? Burnt light? Where to check? They said I can come back for a re-test and wanted to see that my check engine light functions. It doesn't turn on before start up.

Its an odd one because most smog shops fails a car because their light is on and I'm the opposite. :wtf2:

might be an ecu issue, one of the pins on the ecu is responsible for that light, if it lights at startup then the bulb is fine the ecu just isn't sending the signal

If I take out the negative on the battery, will the ecu reset and show all lights on the dash before start-up? I'll see to it this weekend, before getting down to that ecu.

When you turn your key to the run position, before start position all the warning lights come on. Does the check engine light up then? If not the bulb is probably blown. Has nothing to do with resetting the ECU.
