take it apart, see if its the regulator cable(was messed up on mine) or the glass detached from the reg, or the motor itselfits kinda funny, because when i went to investigate on my donor shell, and took teh panel off, first thing i saw was this piece of wood.... holding up the window ..... boooo :boo
if its the motor, paypal me $20 and ill ship out a s13 pass window motor tomorrow for you (the reg was messed, but the motor works great)

edit> just read the thread on 240gen
theres all of 4 bolts that hold teh glass to teh reg, and 4 that hold teh reg to the door (and 2 top blockers that need to be removed)
pull the glass out, and the reg, then plug the motor back in, and see what happens when you push the button
alternativly, you can just apply 12v to the motor wires, see if it moves (do this first actually)
the dropping makes me think its the regulator, dont remember offhand if you can see the cable spool while the reg is installed
that would also cause it to try for a second then quit... the reg being bound
so the long and short of it is: apply 12v to the motor leads.... then if it moves, its a relay or control box, with those, dont take the glass or reg out. if not, its the reg or motor, either one will need you to remove the regulator anyway
and you can use a piece of wood to hold up your window until you fix it
