ok, i posted this in the 240sx section earlier but everyone on there is freaking retarded and i couldnt get a hint of help. seriously, the one reply i got is from some guy that needs his a$s banned. go look if you dont believe me. i know the CA guys dont suck. ill make this one short, as im drunk.

my passenger side window got stuck and then fell to the floor last night. im not sure whats wrong, but when i press the button it makes a really pathetic "rrr" noise for about a second and stops. the window does not move, even slightly. i tried pulling it up but it wont stay, and it wont pull all the way up. im guessing the motor assembly is done for, but wanted to get another opinion before i went and cried (which will happen anyway).

ok, seriously, why is it that every time i have money to get my car running right it goes and breaks in the dumbest freaking spot? seriously, the dealer quoted me $477 for the damn motor (not that i would pay it). i cant get to a junkyard until a week from tomorrow, so i guess itll have to sit until then.

take it apart, see if its the regulator cable(was messed up on mine) or the glass detached from the reg, or the motor itselfits kinda funny, because when i went to investigate on my donor shell, and took teh panel off, first thing i saw was this piece of wood.... holding up the window ..... boooo :boo

if its the motor, paypal me $20 and ill ship out a s13 pass window motor tomorrow for you (the reg was messed, but the motor works great)

edit> just read the thread on 240gen

theres all of 4 bolts that hold teh glass to teh reg, and 4 that hold teh reg to the door (and 2 top blockers that need to be removed)

pull the glass out, and the reg, then plug the motor back in, and see what happens when you push the button

alternativly, you can just apply 12v to the motor wires, see if it moves (do this first actually)

the dropping makes me think its the regulator, dont remember offhand if you can see the cable spool while the reg is installed

that would also cause it to try for a second then quit... the reg being bound

so the long and short of it is: apply 12v to the motor leads.... then if it moves, its a relay or control box, with those, dont take the glass or reg out. if not, its the reg or motor, either one will need you to remove the regulator anyway

and you can use a piece of wood to hold up your window until you fix it

well, the motor works and the cable is intact. it looks like some little white pulley disintegrated and it cant move the cable enough to pull the window up. odds i can get the pulley itself from the dealer? i'd say zero, tops. im going to remove the assembly and see what i can do.

i *think* its motor is 1 part, and the whole reg (cables, pullies and all) is another part. i ended up getting a whole reg and it had a motor still on it for $60 + shipping on ebay i think

update this thread when/if you fix/get a new one, theres a power window s13 in my local pick n pull, ill grab it for you (dont recall their prices, but its way better than what i paid on ebay)

will do, but im just going to wait until i get home this weekend to steal one from a junkyard. it probably wont need updating unless i run into problems. im pretty good at this stuff.

im going to the junkyard to get a window motor assembly from the parts car that i gave them. ironic, isnt it?

i think you (like many other people) need to look up the definition for irony.

on a similar note tho, my local pick n pull had a blue 90 s13 hatch for sale.. $750 was as low as i could have got it from them... the only things were it had a salvage title and bondo. neith of which matter for a track car, but other problems were engine death rattle, both seats broken, seatbelts messed up, and transmission had no reverse

its funny, because all of that broken stuff i had already pulled out of my USDM shell in working order... so i could have had a working 90 with a working 93k mile KAE for $750 ...

unfortunatly im trying to reduce the amount of cars i have right now (trading in both my yukon and wifes santa fe on an armada) so we have less to deal with when we move across 4 states

oh well... Ryan can show me around teh good junk yards when we get there

BTW, we found a nice brick house we like in Choctaw (OK) thats probably the area we will settle in. its got a pond in the back (10 acres) a big barn with paved floor (garage/workshop) and abunch of other barn/chicken coupe type buildings along with it

looks almost perfect, and in our price range. with luck, we'll be able to get that one

that parts car i gave the junkyard was a 92 coupe, full power, clean title, 5spd and a good dohc engine. i got it for $150. it had been in a light front end collision. i too had to get rid of it because there were 4 vehicles in my driveway.

congrats on the house, sounds like quite the pad. ill bet you got it because of the barn, didnt you?
