you dont. i dont think any sr20det's are obd2 compiant.

you need to know someone to have it pass emissions.

the motor is illegal in the us for a street car anyway. just having it will mean you fail emissions unless the inspector doesnt notice the engine doesnt belong.

your best bet is to register it out of county (in a county that doesnt have emissions). or get a 95 240 :)

you will fail only visual check if they do in fact open up your hood (they dont do that in ohio, only california and strict states). sr's usually pass emissions if they are obd1.

obd2... thats rough. i feel sorry for you.

ILLEGAL is the only way.

and posting in the correct forum is a great start, this has NOTHING to do with drifting.

Usually, it'll just be a "slightly" more expensive smog check, if you get my drift.

thats why i dont buy 96+ cars with the intent of modifying them.

its MUCH easier to have a "special" inspection done on a non-OBD2 car. you WILL be charged for the increased difficulty.

on an odb1 car, all the inspector has to do is put the sniffer in another car while yours is on the dyno.

on an obd2 car, the inspector must connect the OBD2 scanner from the smog machine to the second vehicle. its MUCH more difficult because all this has to be done while not looking suspect to the camera connected to the smog machine.

well about 3 months ago, my 01 accord got inspected in ny. the engine light was on lol. so what they did was instead of checking the ecu, they run it for the sniffer and it pass =) and of story lol.

I just spoke to two people this past weekend about it. In the Chicago area if the scanner doesn't read right they just move on to the sniffer/dyno test. I guess its a common thing here to have fouled plugs due to salt and shiz. If you are adjusted lean enough to pass the dyno, your done. I have confirmation of this from a Zenki (96) and a Kouki owner...wish I would have known this before I put all the effort into a KAT.I had a similar issue with my Jimmy, it had a stored misfire code, so they just dynoed it and passed no problem.

new york doesnt start OBD2 testing during inspection until early 2005.
