1. i would reccommend a different picton, CP, wiseco ...someone like that 8.5:1 or 9:12. also eagle rods are a good addition 3. ARP head stud kit 4. possibly use ARP for rod bolts etc. 5. good piston rings, JE, Wiseco, along those lines 6. Replace the rod bearings also, aftermarket or stock 7. need to do some head work also, cams, springs, retainers, rocker stoppers, etcoh and good luck on that 500 mark!

just upgrading the pistons and rods, having the crank machined and OEM bearings will make a SOLID block.

true, but the cheap federal mougel, or any other autozone brand, bearings have wider foot print and work better. im pricing out my build at the moment, an early estimate is about $2500 for a fully built short block.

adding a new, higher capacity oil pan might be a good idea as well.

ya the stock crank is good for 500hp I belief. ( I would double check though because I don't want to give you bad info) Just set you goal to like 450hp and work for that. They have mentioned all the important stuff but like they said the tuning is what will really help you make this power. Keep us updated.
