i am going to get a ca18det clip for my 89 hatch. i AM going to make some serious power out of it, one way or another. it occurred to me that i will want to port the head, and i want one to play with while i have the car running sorting other stuff out, does anyone know where i can get an extra head to play with? and possibly a stock intake? i wouldn't mind fabricating a new box (air intake chamber) for it.

unfortunately the only place you can get a JDM head is japan. the us market CA18DE is very similar but the intake ports are different due to the intake manifold design. if you wanted to run a european head with a single throttle body 4 runner intake mani then you could mess around with a CA18DE head for practice.

The US spec head is the same as the stock CA head, the only difference between the two is the upper intake manifold. If you want to port the lower manifold you can also grab that off the FWD CA. My next project (or at least a project I want to take on) is getting the FWD lower manifold and making my own plentum to accept a Q45 throttlebody.

My buddy's got a spare head that I'm sure he'd sell you cheep.

If your interested Email me offlist and I'll put you in touch with him.

later,
