This guy i know likes to blow jdm motors and he gave me the second RB20DET that he f****d up the pistons in. I already got a timing belt, and i got some used pistons and rods from a fellow NICO member, but since i am going to disassemble the motor i thought i would freshen it up alot. Where can i get some parts without paying an arm and a leg for them? i am putting it in an s13 hatch and plan on just a stock rebuild. Here is a list of parts i need to get that i can think of and feel free to add to it if you think it would be neccessary.

1. Full Gasket Set - ???2. Water pump - ???3. Thermostat - ????4. Oil Pump - ???5. Main Bearings - ???6. Rod bearings - ???7. Piston Rings - ???8. Core Motormount Kit - Takara Motorsports

Again i want to know where to get a great deal on these parts.

Well, just to add to your list. You will need to probably have the block machined and bored out. If the pistons are "messed up," then more then likely the cylinder walls are messed up.

That would be good to have done, but the cylinders are fine. I already checked them out. I just need to know were to get parts for cheap. Thanks though.

If I am not mistaken, this is the place where almost _all_ of the speed-shops in the US get their parts from. I have ordered from them before and had _great_ service and will continue to.

First of all what "Blew" on the motor? You need to find that out first before you start stuffing $$ into this thing. My motor was blow when i got it from VENUS AUTO.The 2nd cyl was out .068" and none of the valves were seating and the cams were scored and the 6th cyl had this Mystery "disc" in it.

So if I were you, I would do a leak down test first. Then you'll know what your up against.

How do you know the cylinders are ok??Do you have a bore micrometer?

As these other guys are saying, its alot more then just replacing the internals of the motor. I dont know what your knowledge is in this field, if you know alot, you may have checked everything. If your new to this, there is alot more than one would initally realize. You NEED to figure out what caused the motor to "blow". It could be literally hundreds of things that could have caused it to blow. Also you need to find out everything thats been damaged. When one thing goes, it tends to take out other things unless your really lucky. Hi performance motors are very sensitive and if any thing is bent even the slightest bit, your going to blow it up again when you rebuild it if the parts not replaced. Here is a basic list of some thing that should be done although its not everything that could be done. You should have the crank balanced and make sure it is true. While its all apart, replace all bearings and seals and gaskets. I wouldnt suggest using "used" pistons, man up and buy something of quailty like wiesco, je, etc. I know they are expensive but its more expensive to do all this rebuilding and then have those "used" parts fail and having to rebuild it all over again. While getting new pistons it would be best to have your block bored, and decked to insure a good seal and long life. As for the rods, if their Ok and have been prefessionally inspected then you could reuse them but still it would be more beneficial to replace them since you can then eliminte a variable in the engine failing again. Your list has some good things on it to, everything on your list would be a good idea to replace. As for mounts, i went through Low Life Kustoms to get mine which ran me $250 for the Rb25 mounts. Im still building my car but they have seemed to be helpful so far, no i dont work for them, i actually just started dealing with them about a month ago and havent had any issues yet.

... my bad... I have used them before and had great service (except for the fact that they use DHL (Former FedEx'er) ).

Although, I think Shay has been gone for the past few days. I'm trying to get a quote for a re-build myself, and have yet to hear from him. I should call him later today. Looking at a gasket kit + piston rings + bearings.
