I am new to this fourms, i just bought my 05 G35 Coupe. I am looking to do a couple of mods in the near future. Right now im look at a Clutch, Exausht, Intake, Headers and Exaust.

Intake : Injen cold air intake.Clucth : Competition Clutch/Flywheel Stage 2Headers : DC, or Stillin. (im more of leaning towards the DC)Exhaust : Fast Intentions HFC, or Borla Performance Cat-back

My problem with the exhaust is that i am trying to avoide the "Ricer" sound, it drives me insane. Can you let me know if these are worth the money/time/effort or have any suggestions.

Welcome to NICO!

Exhaust:

Don't go with Borla...it does sound a little ricey. I recommend HKS, Greddy, or Stillen CAT-backs. Headers won't give you very much for the cost/pain of install, but there are a few members who have done 'em.

Intake:

Since you have an 05 6MT, I HIGHLY recommend you get the Motordyne MREV2 and 5/16 plenum spacer. That will give you the best bang-for-your buck. Great gains in the usable RPM range...I have it on my 05

Next, I recommend a short-ram style intake. The CAI for the G are not that good....and the VQ35 seems to respond better to a shorter intake draw. I'd get the Stillen or JWT PopCharger with the Z-tube.

Clutch:

The CC clutch/flywheel is a great choice...you may get some additional noise from the transmission...but the grip is fantastic! (I have the stage 4 combo).

For more info, check out the G-Series FAQ (link in my sig).

Yea I have tried youtube to see what the different exhaust sounds like, but the problem is, is that I am currently in Iraq and the internet here is too slow to load the vid clips.

I think that i'll hold off on the headers for awhile...

The thing that i liked about the injen CAI that i was looking at can be used as either a CAI or Short Ram.

Exhaust: Get the new Motordyne exhaust. Its got better gains over all the other exhaust. Tony puts a lot of effort and R&D into them. I just got it and ITS AMAZING. It also sounds fantastic.

Fast Intentions makes good HFC, so do Kinetix and Random Technology.

I have headers...and I can tell you that on stock exhaust they won't help much at all. With aftermarket exhaust & a tune you'll get some decent gains from them. DC and stillen are both good.

Get the MREV2 and 5/16" Spacer from Motordyne also.

Get a JWT popcharger with Z-tube for the intake.

I looked up that Motordyne exhaust that you mentioned, but that set is pretty expensive..

I'm going to get the injen CAI/Short Ram intake, the motordyne MREV2 and 5/16 Plenum spacer, and the Competition clutch/flywheel stage 2 kit.

As for the exhaust I think that i'm going to wait until i get back home so I can listen to how the exhaust would sound.

What size speakers will fit in the trunk because i know that it is pretty small i think that 10" subs would fit, has anyone put in subs in theirs yet?

I have. The Bose stereo really needs a decent subwoofer/amp to sound great (IMO). Here's a link to my pics:

I have the Injen CAI and I wouldn't have any other. On the install when it says to cut the foam in the corner of the bumper just remove it, it will give a nice direct shot of air to the filter. I tried it with the short ram option and it seemed to me to lose some power. No dyno to back it up....I did it in the winter to try and keep my filter a bit cleaner and put it back on after a couple days. There is a mrev and 5/16 spacer for sale together on e-bay right now for a decent price and Riverside Infiniti is also selling both seperately on there. If you go for the total exhaust go with the HFC's not the test pipes. Not only can you get in much trouble in CA but it loses alot of lower end and makes almost any exhaust sound ricey. If you search on past threads you can find where I installed a cheap CHEAP!! set of headers and exhaust with kinetix HFC's and it sounds real good...nice and throaty. The higher the rpm's the more rice the sound but I know it doesn't sound anything like them lil 4 bangers with the coffee can exhaust.

Hope any of this helps with your choices.

thats all for now, just spent a good chunck of money on the stereo system. so other parts had to be put off till later.
