Here's the scoop. My radio only gets partial power. I can do things like load and eject a cd, but once the cd is in or out the whole thing shuts off. Also, when I hit the display button, all the lights come on and though I can't set the time it moves like it should, so it is holding memory. This is a brand new JVC unit, and i'm sure everything is wired correctly but it just won't turn on. Is there a fuse somewhere besides the radio that could be blown, or has anyone else had this problem before? Thanks.

is your switched wire hooked up? *the red one* Did you actually use a harness or was your cars wiring hacked by some jackass? All you need to turn it on is constant-yellow wire, switched- red, and ground-black. If you can but the cd in and everything then you probably have a blown fuse that goes to the switched wire or just don't have it hooked up properly.

Thanks for the response. It turned out to be a short in the switched wire. Until I find the short I just hooked up the red wire right to the the power, I just have to remember to turn off my radio when I turn the car off. Thanks for the help though.

Just run a new wire to the ignition harness and tap into the acc circuit(put a fuse on it). You won't have to worry about turning your stereo off.

Don't mean to thread jack but whats the best place to run and tap that? I need to run a new switch wire since my old one is shorting out, I had planned to find the beginning of the old one, hack it off and splice it into there, but good luck trying to find that in the giant clump of main harness, I suppose if I too the whole dash out again it wouldn't be hard but I don't feel like going through all that trouble again.
