Part number for factory external transmission filter

I am a newbie here and have found the forum to be extremely helpful. Great work.

I bought a 94 Q45 blk/blk with 39k miles on it a few weeks ago. The car is great. I'll post pics and more information on the car soon.

I did a few searches and a few people have mentioned that they replaced the external transmission filter (small black canister) on the 94-96 Qs. Infiniti of Scottsdale said the part is not replaceable and they were unable to find the part on their computer.

If it is replaceable, does anyone have the replacement part # so I can try to get it through Joe's dept again or through a local dealer?

I bought the transmission filter kit from Joe's dept which has the gasket, metal strainer filter, bolts, etc.... thought I would make the job fully complete by replacing the external filter too. I'll add a transmission cooler later.

First...I'm jealous...I really want to find a pristine low mileage 94 or 95.

About the filter, Scottsdale told me the exact same thing 6 years ago.

I ended up taking out the filter when I put in the cooler--my lines now go directly from transmission through cooler back to transmission. Bypassed filter and radiator. I didn't want anything restricting the flow.

I've got 208,000 on my original transmission. I get it flushed every spring before the summer heat. I finally found a shop that does it the way I ask without rolling their eyes. I also use Lubeguard along with the BG conditioner.

Please add the cooler asap. It's critical to prolonging the life of the transmission on these older Qs.

I have got that external filter from joe at I.O.S.- they have it,might be listed as external filter KIT- as it comes with new filter,hoses,and large metal bracket- around 70-80$ if I remember correctly.
