part identification?

hey folks,

new to the forum, troubleshooting my 95 altima and wondering about this part... can't post a pic, car's not w/ me at the moment.

in the engine bay, pass. side just in front of the strut, there's a bracket with what looks vaguely like a vacuum diaphragm with two wires going in and some sort of sensor wedged in on the other side. ordinarily i don't try to create problems, but the thing is completely corroded, like encrusted in deposits, and i'm just wondering what it is, what it does, and how i test it.

I have two 95's, and your description is far too vague. upload a picture and I'll tell you what it is.
