did you have to notch your lower panels for the seatbelt?? I'm getting ready to do this to my coupe so any insight would be great. I like the way this looks so much better than the JDM panels. Also, what did you do about the gap on the A-pillars?

Thanks

Actually the upper panels are notched. Since the upper panel goes behind the lower panel, it makes perfect sense to notch the upper one. You can't even tell it's notched because the belt covers it up.

Bride Type-RO

I do not have any side pics yet..... but soon! My friend Kyle and I will be fabricating a rolling shot rig within the next couple weeks. He will also be able to do rolling interior shots with it.... like this:

I'll be sure to have him get some lower shots down by the mount.

That gap?

You can use more fabric to extend your headliner, but i would redo the whole thing so it looks normal.

Or Buy a 180sx Headliner and problem solved, i would still redo the fabric on it though.... Just cause hahaha

Broadfield didn't use the JDM belts, that's why I wanted to know about the gap in the a-pillar that is left with the USDM pillar after you remove the automatic track.

From door jam to A-pillar or a-pillar to headliner?

He is talking about door jam to A-pillar. I have all stock USDM panels and headliner. I am using S14 belts.

So to answer Loyd's question: I did nothing about the gaps. The Cusco cage was designed for the JDM vehicle..... so it fits really tight in our cars. Therefore pushing in on the A and B pillars and making the gap a minimal one. I have been pondering the JDM pillar panels and headliner, but I think it's somewhat difficult to get the headliner. It's something I'll worry about down the road if it bugs me enough.

Thanks, I guess if it ever comes down to it, I'll try and source the JDM panels since I already have the belts, just haven't put my panels in yet.

Thought I would post a little update. Finally got around to starting the upholstery work on the back seat.

Since I have a junk back seat, I am stripping all of the material down to individual panels. This means I can trace each individual pattern onto my new material. So in the 1st pic, I numbered each panel and made a "map" of the seat panels. I then carefully seam ripped every panel until everything was apart.

These are some pics of material that I have already cut to shape. I basically pinned the old panel to the new material and used a rotary cutter to cut around the panel. There will be a stitch that cuts across the middle of this panel to make the dividing line between panel 9 and 10. In this example, panels 9 and 10 are actually one piece of material, but with a stitch across it like I mentioned above. So the finished product looks like two separate panels.

Same goes for this pic..... one piece of material, but actually three panels. Here you can see where I already stitched to divide the panels. This would be 5, 6 and 7 from the first pic.

These are the 3 and 11 panels from the first pic.... these would be the sides bolsters of the seat bottom.

..... and this is where all the action happens. An old Singer for the win!

It's going to get a lot tougher from here on out. Metal rods have to be sewn in so the material can be hog ringed to the cushion etc..... so it's about to get fun. I am just in the preliminary stuff now. I'll make sure to post pics as I go. I am waiting on some more material, so we'll see how far I get. Then keep in mind I'll have to do the same thing to the back of the back seat.

Dang I wish you lived by me. I'd have you re-upholster my interior parts.

I need to get them done by someone. How much would someone like you charge for visors, glove box, arm rest, and door panels? Just a rough estimate.

Btw, that Bride fabric is going to look SICK!!!

I'm not an upholstery guy, so I would not do it for someone. I'm not sure what the going rate is, but I can promise you it's not cheap.

Drivelinestore.com stocks all of the material..... talk to Eric.

I always remove all adhesive before recovering anything. I use a 3M adhesive remover.
