I am parking my Rogue in front of my house and the parking lot is having a 20-25 degrees slope. When I park uphill (front of the car is looking to the top) and shift the gear to Park and apply the parking brake, and remove my foot from the brake, the car stands still. However, if I parked downhill (back of the car looking to the top) do the same thing with gear and parking brake and remove my foot from the brake pedal, the car moves a bit and stops (as If I never applied parking brake). I guess the lock pin at the transmission holds the car (I don't know if the CVT has that pin? My Sonata had that pin and people recommended to use the parking brake, because otherwise all the weight of the car is being carried by that tiny pin). Is it normal? :picard:

The Rogue has a parking 'gear' similar to the one found in an automatic transmission. The gear has a small amount of movement before it engages so you will always get a slight roll in one direction or another after you release the brake.

You are correct that you should also apply the parking break when parking on a hill. You should also steer your wheels towards the curb. Read the 'Starting and Driving' section of your owners manual for instructions.

I would say your steps are not in the right order if you want to use the parking brake to hold the car and not the gear pin (you are absolutely right about that part).

When you park, put your foot brake on first, then put the car in P. You can also move the shifter in N and release the brakes to be sure the car doesn't move and that the foot brake hold the car before putting the shifter in P.
Like that, the foot brake is the main system holding the car, the gear pin is there as a back up system.

I have noticed dependent which step you do first, the car would lean on the pin and not on the brakes. I, sometimes, have to redo the whole procedure again because I usually put the gear in P without thinking about it.
