Ever notice in parking lots a lot of people do not know how to park their cars or they leave shopping carts in the lot bumped next to the other guy's car.

Who all here always use the E brake while parking?

yea that happened to me the other night in my Mustang, only it wasn't in a parking lot, it was on the street parked in front of my gf's house. Nobody around there knows me, but seems as if it was done intentionally and left about a 5 inch long 1/4'' thick scratch which really pissed me off.

I always use my e-brake, and leave my car in neutral unless parked on a hill then I leave her in gear for extra safety. I leave it in neutral though as I have a remote start system on my car so that way I can start her up without going down to the car, and I can make a quick entrance and get-away too for uhmmm well . . . uhmmm many different things! HAHAHA!

I always use my emergency brake when parking, and leave the manual transmission in neutral.

Speaking of parking I did my first under front bumper scrape this morning. Boy these cars are low with the sport package on them.

In the pleistocene era, when I learned to drive, I was taught to ALWAYS use the parking/emergency brake. See, it was called the parking brake, that you could always use in an emergency. I liked the lesson on how to stop using the emergency/parking brake when your real brakes fail, 'cause it's the brake you use in an emergency.

Always driven standards, but the drill probably holds true for other trannies too.

I always use the parking brake & leave it in gear. Everyone at work knows when I was the last person to drive a vehicle because the parking brake is always on even though they are all automatics.

I always leave a manual in gear and put on the parking break. When parking on a big hill I turn the wheel into the curb, that way the car has to roll up and over the curb before it can head down hill (and it will just go across the street cause the wheel is turned).

I always assumed it would be bad on the transmission to leave the car in gear or in park, as when you get in the car rocks back and forth and would be extra strain on the system.
