So i have my 91 240sx with a sr20 swap and it has been in the car since 2009. I have replaced the alternator and swapped it since the issue and still no fix and it also has a new battery.

So durring the winter of 2012-2013 i tore the car apart tail lights came out and the doors and fenders and every piece that unbolts came off the car for paint. got the car painted in april and then put it all back together and it was all good to go.

About a month into driving the car, one night i ripped into it and once it started to get a load on the car and build boost a fuse blew (parking lights and dash lights 15amp) brake lights still work when i hit the pedal and the headlights still work and the gauges still work :wtf2: . I replaced the fuse and it stays good durring the day when my lights are off i can boost all day and beat on the car no issues. once i turn the parking lights on and take off kinda hard or do a pull it blows out. was doing that for awhile. couldnt find anything obvious or anyone else with this issue and ive been pushing it off untill now. I was down at Englishtown,NJ for club loose's friday night drift pArty on nov 1st and had the fuse blow everytime i pulled off from the line( ripping into it) get back in line change the fuse so i can watch the temp and gauges. after the final time it blew out and would blow the sec i put a fuse in and turn the lights on even out of curiosity i tried a 20amp and that blew instantly so i drove 2hrs home just headlights and my support car behind me. (car not truck so i couldnt tow it home) I only drive the car during the day and its always so dark at night i have no time to check into it

anyone have a idea where to start on this problem? thanks ahead of time

Kind of sounds like the wiring harness is getting pinched somewhere and grounding on the body. I don't have a schematic with me, but see if you can unplug the rear section of the lighting harness and see if the parking lights work. Maybe you can at least limit your search to the front or rear half. If the fuse blows immediately now, you could probably use a volt meter to see where you have a short to ground digging around in the harness connectors. Good luck, I hate problems like this.

You have a rub through on the wiring harness somewhere. Since the issue seems to happen when you're flogging the car, it's probably be because the car is loading/unloading on the suspension. Look in the wheel wells to see if the tire has rubbed through the harness (front driver is notorious for that). After that, look for parts of harness that may not have been clipped back properly after the paint job. They may be able to rock around when you're pulling hard, and a rub through could ground. Look around anywhere you have a parking light or interior light that comes on with the parking lights. They're all on the same circuit, so it covers the car nose to tail, plenty of opportunity to short.

Does anyone have a schematic for the parking lights? It also has done it when I have been coasting down hill. I am gonna be checking the harness above the wheel again but it looked fine. Ill pull the fender off and search from there after I check behind the fuse box/kick panel area. If anyone has a PDF that I can download that would be great. I used to have one but lost that flash drive. It's a weird problem. Nissan made 2 s*** issues.....rear brakes that always seize and s*** 240 electrical issues

I turned autocorrect off 'cause I hate it. So sometimes I end up fat fingering words and I don't catch them.

Ok so i have finally found my problem in my car. started by checking everything under the dash and pulled all that mess apart and checked connectors nothing was burnt or corroded at all. then moved to under the driver fender. some wires were touching but that still wasnt the problem. Next i was looking at the end where the left front parking light/turn signal had a universal 3 wire plug spliced into the harness with some cheap crimp connectors. as i was trying to pull the wire out farther i had to cut the race straps(zip ties) from holding the wire tight. It was tucked into the frame rail cause there was so much excess wiring( all added by previous owner) and the crash bar was removed for the big intercooler so the factory marker light harness mounting spot was removed. I have installed a crash bar and notched it accordingly) . once i cut the zip ties the wire fell out. apparently it had gotten caught between my intercooler and frame rail and once the engine would torque over the intercooler would slightly move and the wires would all touch in some way causing the fuse to blow. Stripped the wires soldered them and taped them all up individually and the together and mounted them back into the correct spot. Car is fixed and ready to rock for next year as far as electrical goes. Now that electrical is fixed i can finally start my sr->2jz swap, by by 400whp hello 800whp+
