Help diagnosing Parking Brakes. I have cranked the manual brake screw down about 1.5 in. It will stop my 2003 infinitiG35 from going forward. However, backword down a hill it just slides. Dealership in Fife WA said that was normal, I don't buy it. How does it work? Do I need to replace parts?

Try bedding the shoe to the drum. Drive down your street holding the parking brake lever up slightly. It will help wipe some of the pad material onto the drum giving a better coefficient of friction. It's possible the shoe may only be contacting the drum in one place so a slight bit of wear may put more of the shoe in contact with the drum.

My G had a similar issue, but after using the parking brake to coast to a stop a couple of times, it is holding very well now.

Call Doug at Fairlady Motors in Tacoma. They only do Nissans. He knows EVERYTHING. Heck when I dropped my car they where working on TWO GTRs!

He should be able to answer your question in seconds. The number is 253 565 9823
