ANyone else ever had a problem with their parking brake light staying on even though the parking brake is not depressed?

Mine is doing that, is it just a fuse problem? Same with my security light, when the car is off it blinks and doesn't stop unless the car is running? Weird, huh??

Yeah that's it. You may have a master cylinder leak.

Ouch! One thing is for sure, I need to bleed them. The fluid in the resovoir is ugly and old. That should afford me a better diagnosis, I hope.

blinking security light- most likely the hood or trunk plunger switch needs replacement, check all door switches also, but if that was the problem, the interior lamps would most likely remain on.the light is blinking because it thinks the hood-trunk-door is open.hope this helps

Ditto on the master cylinder fluid level. Anything below half way can cause the light to stay on. You can check the hood switch for continuity (should be closed when open) with an ohm meter. Does the security light stay on all night, or just for a few minutes? I think it may be normal for a couple of minutes after you lock up, but I'm not sure.

I had this problem this last winter. Express Oil said my Master fluid is good. I think my problem was attributed to cold weather. Now that things are warming up here in Alabama, it has stopped. A friend with a Camry has the same problem (cold realted).
