Stopped by to buy a case of coke and lost my appetite in a hurry.

First-gen LS. Didn't pay attention to whether it was an 8 or a 6 because I was too busy being disgusted. (On the earlier models, the badging was on the tail-light, and my not-so-steady hand blurred that part of the photo). There's a blurry '64 Fairlane in the background.

WHY?!

I'd like to know if there's a common mental deficiency in people who add vinyl roofs to their cars. Also pinstripes.
It still has a sunroof in the middle of the padded failtasticness to boot.

Oh god, that's awful. Those carriage tops look terrible on modern cars, especially those with arched roofs.

I wouldn't drive one of those if it was given to me. :couch:

You can look at that and say to yourself, "I'm a better person for seeing this."

When the 300C came out in 2005, Chrysler made explicit instructions to dealers to NOT install aftermarket simcon tops. Some did it anyway.

Same for when the LHS arrived in '94 and the 300M in '99.

I REALLY wish that all knowledge of these roofs would DIAF. When I worked for Lincoln/Mercury, we had a couple of Grand Marquis with them, but what really made me want to barf was seeing someone order one on an MKZ

Who seriously pays the chunk of change it costs to have one of those installed?

All my Grand marquis's except the last one had those awful vinyl roofs along with the genuine imitation s shaped carriage trim and side trim lights between the doors. That's how they came if you wanted any luxury options. Too much of a hassle to get one without that nonsense unless you bought a cheaper Crown Vic. The LS equipped one looks funny. But it's not that shocking given the average age of new Lincoln buyers back then.

I had an 88 Grand Marquis for my first car and on that car, it at least somewhat fit, because in that era almost every luxury car had one. I would still own one of those cars again though, because it was a dream to cruise in and the motor was bulletproof.

LOL. I had an '88 too. small world. That was my second Merc. (3 yr lease) Great road trip car. And the 5.0 V-8 never skipped a beat. I gave up on FoMoCo after I leased a 1992 GMarq.(1st year of the redesign + 4.6L engine). That was a pos.

I saw a Lexus ES300 with one of those roof jobs on it last week. When I worked at a Toyota dealer a mid 90's Buick Regal in green showed up with one of those roof jobs in green, it looked like a Putt-Putt Golf and Games green. I'd yell 'FOUR!' anytime it pulled in the service drive.

I still haven't found anything worse than the 2005 Galants I see with simcon tops from time to time. It's common enough that I've seen MANY. The car was ugly from the start, but add the roof and you get exponential terrible.

It's so ugly Google refuses to find images of it. Though they must exist.

So, instead, I will burn your eyes from your skulls with the following atrocities.

Honestly- what is the allure of simcon tops? Is it like a faux convertible to the owners? The appearance of prestige? Soooo confused.

Surprisingly these don't bother me, at all.

Probably has to do with the fact I see them 89% of the time here in SoFla.

LOL^

I got one for yall.

This "rap group" in my city made this video: "Welcome to Lake Charles" (I live in Lake Charles but I ship/receive everything to the location listed in my profile) <<---

It might be NSFW I can't remember but watch it when you get a chance.

Some of those vehicles that are in that Houston video may be also in the above video. :gotme They just look very similar.
