I went to start my car today, and it wouldn't go!I couldn't believe it... the battery went dead....Using my mom's car, I boosted it no problem, but I didn't like it being dead in the first place.Supposedly, it died because I have too many things permanently hardwired into the battery, such as my ps1, cd changer, deck, speakers, and most importantly, my alarm. The techs at Alpine told me it will die every week if it isn't started, because of all the things on there. He actually told me my alarm setup uses so many sensors that send info to my pager, that just having that on by itself would drain the battery every week.

Does anyone else have this problem? Any way to overcome it?I'm going to try just disconnecting the battery while I'm not driving it, but damn... what a disappointment...

Disconecting the battery doesn't sound good for your alarm, esp since it sounds like such a high end alarm. I would get an optima battery to replace your old one.

The battery in my Altima died this year on me. I was expecting it to since it was only the second battery the car has ever had and it's a 94! It sat for like two days in a garage, just enough for it to go to sleep completely. It was so dead that power locks didn't work and the chime for the "key-in-ignition" was silent. Not even a faint dash light glowed. No jumping this one. It only responded to a brand new battery. lol

I had a battery die with a bad cell and could not be jump started before. What really sucked is that I had just pulled in to the drag strip and was trying to get to tech! No fun for me that night. :nopity

my car hasn't had a dead battery since i have owned it. and its sit over a week before. i don't really have any electrical stuff though. no alarm, no playstation, no system. but if i was you, just get a good battery, and just start it every few days. i mean, why wouldn't you want to start your car? i would wanna be in mine as much as i could!

Yeah, it's true...

if you have too much stuff wired into it and let it sit longer than a week, there's a good chance it'll keep dying.

Either:a) get a better battery (optima) ORb) disconnect some stuff

Well I go to school out of the city, so I can't start it as much as I would like to. My family usually does it though, but not while I'm at home for the holidays. It was sitting for maybe a week and a half, two weeks at most.

Why wouldn't it be good to disconnect my battery for my alarm?

Don't disconnect the battery... just disconect some of the crap before youlet it sit there. keep the alarm if you want but take everything else off.. that might work

Yeah I took everything else off and kept my alarm on, it's pretty helpful. My dad dropped a bolt on the hood today and it paged me about it :D

Alpine SEA-8081- Interior vibration detection and radar (adjustable sensitivity)- Exterior 5 meter adjustable radar (sensitivity perimeter)- Vibration detection on hood- Vibration detection on both side, front, and rear panels- Vibration detection on trunk- Anti car jack- Ignition disable switch. - Ignition over ride, preventing hot wiring or starting while alarm is still armed.- Multi car coverage ability (for parking near friends w/no alarms)- Automatic door locks when armed, unlocks when disarmed.- Automatic window roll up when armed- Pager included, with scrolling text to describe violations, that transmits up to 1 mile away.- Valet mode- Silent or loud panic modes for violations, to prevent neighbours from waking up at 3am :)- A nice little red light, to tell people it's there

The alarm was purchased in Japan, I've never seen it in North America.I absolutely recommend it to anyone and everyone. All of the options I listed are to be used at your convenience, you can use all, none or some. The pager itself is really tiny too, it fits in my jean pockets with no bluge.
