If you haven't seen it yet, there is a story and a link to the ad Paris made in response here

I think her publicity people hit the jackpot with this one. Well done and funny.

i agree. it blew up in his face. it made him sound petty and petulent, esp since he is a bigger hollywood star than obama.

Yeah, but these last few paragraphs were funny too:

Quote »Meanwhile, the McCain campaign, revealing that it had received an "extraordinary number" of requests for a response to Hilton's ad, said it was impressed by the socialite's energy policy.

"Paris Hilton might not be as big a celebrity as Barack Obama, but she obviously has a better energy plan," McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said.
Quote »..In Hilton's spoof campaign commercial, a gravel-voiced narrator takes aim at McCain, asking: "He's the oldest celebrity in the world. Like, super old. Old enough to remember when dancing was a sin, and beer was served in a bucket. But is he ready to lead?"
Out of the mouths of babes.

Do you ever pay attention? They were using her as an analogy, not attacking her. There was one pic of each of Spears / Hilton in there for less than a second, just to make the celebrity reference.

it was a joke...I swear to god it was just a joke...I was joking about McCain attacking Hilton by comparing her to Obama...it was a joke!

Honest opinion, the fact that somebody like Paris Hilton is an well known enough to be considered a notable, and discussion worthy, analogy to a presidential candidate is a sad comment, not on McCain, but on our country.

I thought the McCain ad was quite humorous, aside from raising legitimate concerns. I applauded McCain for saying what many people are feeling... (ie - how has a complete fluff moron like Obama got this far?)

Her energy plan is ftw! I'm not sure about a Pink White House, though.

McCain deserves the ad, although he wasn't really using it to get at her so much to get at Obama.. but, I'm glad she took it in stride. Well done Paris.

Lame.

It's not nice to make fun of clinically depressed people, either. Might as well cancer patients.

But... nice try

Oh yeah, and can someone post a credible link to where this slogan is in use for Republicans?

Under the “Change You Deserve” mantra, Republican leaders will unveil a series of solutions on energy policy, the economy and jobs, health care, and security and family issues – all underscoring the fact that House Republicans are agents of change in a Congress desperately in need of it. The GOP offensive will begin this week with the introduction of a families agenda compiled by GOP Conference Vice Chair Kay Granger (R-TX), and will be followed in the coming weeks by the unveiling of specific proposals on energy, the economy, security, and health care. Following are a sampling of news stories published today on “Change You Deserve” initiative:

Just so you know, I'm a very strong Conservative Republican and even *I* laughed at the ad. Plus, a large majority of the people I work around now take depression medication, THEY all laughed at it.

Every once in a while, you just have to loosen up and laugh. And, that's just plain...

WHY do we even have to CARE what Paris Hilton has to say?

Her life belongs on the tabloids and butt of jokes (politically correct or not). THAT'S IT.

This thread needs closing.

I was just being dramatic. But yeah, Obama and his media pandering looks more and more like Paris getting out of a car without panties on purpose.

I'm really sick of that line,

McCain's campaign covers Obama more than it covers McCain...hes not pandering hes just the subject of the discussion on both sides.

well said. you know why undecideds are so high? because no one knows anything about McCain. they are too busy pulling BS like this. You wanna get elected? You got to speak about your own qualifications, and no, getting shot down over Vietnam isnt one of them.

I'll agree with that.

Honestly, I think he should roll the dice. Speak the way I KNOW he can, and screw the critics. Lay it all out on the table. Tell us whose a$$ you're gonna kick, who in Washington can help you get things done, and what you've got in store for us.

In my opinion, I think he'd win over some people, and it certainly can't hurt.
