From what I understand, 1990 to 1996 Q45's have power transistors or ignitors...

...while 1997+ Q45's have them built into the ECU and coilpacks... if this is correct, could someone please confirm it? Thanks!!

I searched both current and archived forums for "power transistor", "transistor", transister, igniter, ignitor, coil, coil pack, coilpack with nothing that answered my question. If I missed a thread that covered this already, I apologize.

In case you are wondering, I'm looking for a cross-reference part for a different Nissan engine, and I don't actually own an Infiniti. Thanks again!

The transistor packs on the 90-96 are mounted on top of the cover that hides the coil packs. I'm not sure about the configuration on the 97+

It might be worth your time to download the service manuals for both at http://www.phatg20.net

Google for the appropriate software to decompress the .rar files.

Good luck!
