this could b a dumb question, as i am rather confused on the issue. but could i wire my two subs into my 2ohm stable (bridged) 2 channel amp to get the max amount of power? if so, how could i do that. and if this makes no sense, dont laugh too hard.

what is the impedance of the voice coils? [ohms] and are the subs single or dual voice coils?

ima retract my previous post, as i looked into it and im already gettin all 300w rms to each sub

thanks anyways

anyway, ill preempt your question and assume that your working with two 4 ohm single voice coil subs.

what your going to do is look on the amp for a switch for bridged mode.

if your amp doesnt have this, you may need a "Y" connector inorder to feed both channels of the amp the same signal

now, what your going to do is use a small piece of speaker wire to "bridge" the output channels.

like this-[+] left [-]====[+] right [-]

[==== is a jumper wire]

the wire connects the negative terminal of one channel and the positive terminal of the other channel. this places both outputs in series.

next, take the wires to the speakers. join the two positive wires from the subs together. join the negative wires together.

connect the two joined positive wires from the subs to the open positive terminal on the amp [left positive in my diagram]

connect the two joined negative wires to the open negative terminal [right negative in my diagram]

if your amp is not 2 ohm stable in bridged mode, you will blow up the amplifier.

oh, ok. because not too many amps will take a 2 ohm load in bridged mode.

i thought parallel was + to + and - to - not + to -

the + to - was the procedure for bridging the amplifier

when you bridge an amp, you quadruple the power output.

by placing the two channels in series, you double the voltage that the amp is putting out. if you double the voltage through the same load, the current also doubles.

power= voltage x current

so 2current x 2voltage = 4watts

also, watts = current^2 x resistance
