My panic alarm keeps going off when I lock my car.

I have an aftermarket alarm but i think it has something with my door ajar light being on any ideas?

I cant even keep my car locked right now.

does anyone suspect it being something other than the door ajar problem and can i simply just get rid of the panic alarm i dont need it anyway

door switch in the door jamb. one of them is bad. if you walk around the car and push on each door individually, you might be able to manipulate it into messing with the alarm or door ajar light. Or just open the door and press it with your finger and see if you find the bad one. One of mine is bad but luckily the circuit is stuck closed instead of open so the QX4 thinks the door is closed all the time. The downside is that when i open that door, none of the lights come on. Didnt you say u had rear hatch ajar light problems ?

Your problem is most definitely your cargo area lamp not having a bulb in it. That bulb completes the door sensor circuit. Without that bulb, it thinks the doors are always open. Your alarm system also probably monitors those door sensors in case of break-in. I don't even know how your alarm system isn't going off immediately when you arm it (unless it has some feature where it doesn't go off if a door has been left open). Even if you used the factory keyfob, that would still set off the factory alarm. The only way to get around this is to lock the doors manually without arming your aftermarket or the factory alarm.

Why don't you just put a new bulb in your cargo area lamp?

I have a light there I always did have a light in the cargo area thats why im having trouble figuring it out.

Maybe its the wires i hooked the reverse camera up to in the hatch. I will lock with my keys until i can investigate further.

I have a feeling the wires I used to power reverse camera are the door wires and thats whats f***in with my door ajar light.

thanks for the input.

I thought you didn't have a bulb in the cargo area lamp, that's why I suggested connecting the RED and RED/BLUE wires in that other thread. What wire did you connect your reverse camera to (color/location)? I would also suggest trying fueler's idea above to ensure that none of your sensors have failed.

The alarm going off definitely has something to do with the same reason your door ajar lamp stays illuminated.

I got to the bottom of everything and the wires i had the reverse camera to were the wires used for the lock pin for the hatch window. Thats why door ajar light was on, and thats why the alarm would go off.

I wired the camera to another wire on the hatch and also hooked it up to a switch so i can turn it on whenever i want. its kind of cool to use as a screensaver because it just overides the screen with the visual. I put the switch beside the heated seat switch.
