Pairing bluetooth headset,Treo, car

Palm Treo 700wx and bluetooth headset is paired, to use the headset while driving do I 1: just pair the Treo and nav system, 2: pair the Treo, headset, and Nav system, or what do I have to do so my wife can drive and talk on the headset. Any help would be great.. Thanks

Wait, if you want to talk with your bluetooth headset, why does the nav need to be paired at all?
