how durable and finish quality are wheels that have been repainted?

I am looking at a set of ASA AR1's that currently have a black face polished lip in the 18x8 @ 40mm. The problem is I want a staggered look and they don't offer 18x9 with a black face & polished lip, but they do offer the following with a siler face polished lip 18x9 @ 35mm offset. My thoughts are to get the two front 18x8 with black face and then buy the 18x9 and send them off to get the face painted black. How much does this cost and who does this sort of work, autobody shops?

This would give me a very sweet staggered look with a bigger lip in the rear.

Every autobody shop I've spoken to about this knows somebody somewhere that powdercoats, refinishes, etc..

There's even a nasty shop called HubCapCity that has a nationwide network dedicated to sourcing every wheel ever, and they also have contacts at refinishing shops that can do like-new work.

For example I wanted some S14 SE wheels (5lug). I called up HubCapCity and sent them on the mission to find rims, they did, and have them get a refinish to look as new. They did. The wheels look perfect in every aspect.

Each wheel cost $167 for the wheel itself, and the refinish.

Bottom line is, every autobody shop has an in. Get to know your local body man!

thanks for the info. I will call around to see what kind of feed back I get from the body or rim shops about repainting.
