It all up to you if you want to get a new one go ahead but if you want to save some money just reuse it. if it in go shape reuse it.

Get a new gasket. Spare yourself the potential oil leak problem and toss the old gasket. Spend the extra bux on your ride. She's worth the trouble! While you are at it, be sure to get a tube of silicone gasket maker. Might as well hit up those cam caps as well.

My 2 cents.

I've reused my valve cover gasket several times. If you don't have the time to special order one you can reuse it. Just make sure it isn't cracking or falling apart.

Speaking of this topic, what kind of paint do you use to paint a valve cover? Where can it be purchased?

Just any hi-temp engine paint works. Gloss is easier to keep clean. Just like $6 or $7 at any Autozone

Prep the cover clean if off real good then scuff it up with sand paper, even in the letters. Then put a coat of primer down then a few coats of your choice of paint then add a few coats of clear. Let each coat dry before applying another.

I took my valve cover of, and spent about 2 hours sandin and prepin it, painted it and let it dry then put some sandpaper on a wood paddle (about a foot long and an inch wide, comes from paint stores) and sanded the paint off the letters, i went with satin black, omg i love it.
