I'm gona go buy a brake caliper painting kit, anyone painted their calipers? Any advice? What do you think about painting it and what color would you choose?

I'm thinking about painting them red, since I have a blue coupe and the red goes well with the tailights and makes a good contrast with the blue of the car. I'm thinking about using this kit:

I say go for it, just make sure that it is a really good brand of caliper paint so you don't have a lot of chipping. I wanted to do the calipers on my last car, but never got around to it and I have the link somewhere of caliper decals so you could put either Nissan or Nismo or whatever on it in any color. Personally, I would go with the red with silver or black decals, but that is just me.

When I put my rims on my calipers were rusted solid and looked horrible!! I was so ticked I took the car back to the stealership and argued with the service department for at least 30 mins as they were trying to tell me it's normal. (brand new car I might add) After I tell him where he can go I went the sales manager and b**ched until he made them sand everything down and paint it with the heat resistent and rust resistent black paint!! It turned out really well so I'm not sure if you are having the same problem but I thought I'd throw that out there!

Why was it so rusted? its a new car.. did you leave the car in a swimming pool? I thought the calipers would last longer than that without rust...

I used the Duplicolor on my VW & after 2+ years, no chipping when I traded it in. Make sure & use multiple thin coats. Do not get in a hurry! Do one side at a time & you can go back & forth between the front and back calipers.

Ive done it, on my 02 Acura RSX Type S Black with red letters, its pretty easy to do just a little time consuming if you want to do it right.

Make sure you clean them thoroughly I removed all four calipers drained all fluids and cleaned it with brake cleaner then alcohol and blow dry them with an air gun. As long as they are dry and clean your paint will stick if not your going to have a mess on your hands I'm going to do it again on the A/C maybe paint it that Brembo gold and letter it Nissan or Nismo on it as well. Good Luck

That's what I was trying to tell them.. He's like... "It's normal"... I'm like "You're an idiot it's a brand new car".. I got so pissed I just told him to get screwed and went to the sales manager. I swear man they were so rusted it made the car look HORRIBLE. Once the sales manager seen it he was like "That look's like s**t man, I'll get this fixed".. I love how the stealership just want's to tell you everything is normal.. I was starting to think someone used my calipers for a weight while fishing!!

Used taht kit on my friend's s2000. Worked out very nicely I would recommend it. I wouldn't do it only because I have a black car and I don't really like the idea. One really big tip is to buy new brushes because teh ones that come with the kit suck and are cheap. Bristles fall out and will get stuck in if you use crappy brushes. Get good quality expesnive stuff so you don't regret it.
