I recently got me a pair of front skyline calipers and rear ones as well I want to paint them black I took everything off pads, clips, etc. I see that you can unscrew them apart the whole caliper. My worry is the inside would I screw anything up? Any lookouts?

i just used a scrubbing and laundry powder, cleaned them up nice, used a little WD-40 with the brush again, cleaned againa nd again, then cleaned them off with some thinners, masked off the pistons (of course you dissassemble them first) got some high heat paint and painted them, placed them in a old toaster oven and baken them for a lil bit.. presto...

I had my set bead blasted (for free by a friend) and then shot them with high temp header paint. They were shinny like alum. when they got out of the blasting machine.

I thought about spraying them with some high temp clear and leaving them bling bling but finally decided to go black.

BTW...I had the pistons out at the time for a rebuild and did not split them at the seam. I just masked the piston holes with masking tape.

I will post some pics tonight after I get off work. I do not think I have any pics of the process. I have really been slacking on the pics lately.

Here are some pics. This is all I have. I think they have about 4 light coats of Krylon BBQ grill paint from walmart on them. It is rated to 1200deg.

If you want to see the pics bigger view the properties of the pic and add ".org.jpg" to the path in a new window.

Hmm it would look really nice if you sanded the calipers down first so they are nice and smooth.... Then spray the calipers black.... then just sand the paint off the nissan logo, then go over with a thick layer of clear... Would look sooo clean

I tried sanding them, but didn't want to spend the rest of my life on a brake project (keep in mind these are iron not alum). I did file the word "NISSAN" so it would be smoothER and plan to take the paint the logo white.
