I was just wondering how good a rear bumper would come out if i repainted it with spray paint because its really faded out and the black paint is starting to come off in places so i wanted to repaint it. Im just wondering because i dont wanna do it and it starts fading again or something in a year. Will it last long with just regular spray paint?

It can be done but the result may not be to your liking. The bumper must be thoroughly 'prepped' before painting it. Otherwise, you'll have bubbles or paint will peel off. It's not easy to get a consistent spray pattern so you can have an over-spray and worse, once the spray can is almost empty, you'll get paint splatter. Assuming you have painted it evenly, then you need to apply clear coat to protect the base paint.

Another option is to buy a replacement bumper cover for @ $100. (OEM-equivalent or refurbished)

From the internet or locally. From the internet, do a search "91 Maxima Bumper Cover" and it should give you a list of car parts stores. as below:

http://cpwstore.carpartswholesale.com

http://info.automotix.net

Ask then if the bumper has been pre-painte in black. Pleas check if those sites are reliable. It must be a member of BBB and has a secure site for financial transactions (must take you to a secure site https:..., whenever it requires entry of credit card info). The shipping charge for a bumper could be high.

A better way is to go to a local body shop and inquire where you can buy bumper cover. If your bumper is still in good shape, you can ask them how much will it cost to repaint. Some shops will do it for @ $100. Don't limit yourself to one body shop.
