Ive got a 2010 alt coupe, jsut got it bout a month ago, thinking about painting my wheels black to match the whip...dont have much $ to buy wheels plus winter coming in NJ so no desire just yet. I love the contour of the stock wheels and am considering painting them. Would just like to see if anyone else has any pictures or suggestions on how to go about it. I am FAR from a mechanic (most I have been able to do is swap out some LEDs ha)

Mechanics don't do much painting, so you should be good! ;)

To try it out, go grab some PlastiDip at a local autoparts store. You can take each wheel off the car, spray them, and voila. You can get an idea for what it will look like, and if you don't - peel it off. It's not permanent and won't mess anything up, giving you a bit of risk free trial and error for playing with your car.

Why is every single one of your pics at Willowbrook?

OP, I guess I can endorse Plastidip just once, for a trial run only. If you decide you like it, you can look into powdercoating as well as paint. I just wouldnt recommend doing either of the two yourself (obviously you arent powdercoating anything without an oven).

I just plastidipped my Z rims (temporarily to hide the scratches) and it was a cinch. I just put on like 3-4 coats each wheel with two cans I got at Home Depot. Its got a real rubbery texture and will probably scratch within the first month of two. I'm saving up to powdercoat the them gunmetal.

Yeah. I know I know, I'm THAT good :chuckle: jk

This is Matte black finish, I've done it on several cars always comes out great. They can have a glossy finish too if you want, but it's a little trickier.

A full set usually takes 2 hours, depends on how many coats you want.

Dont use Glossifer. I have the can and used it on one wheel and it looks like dandruff flakes.
