yes, i am painting my interior i have already done everyhitng except the dash i pulled out everything and painted them with vinal pain (found at local canadian tire), but i have a problem the paint doesn't stick well to the plastic pieces, but sticks very well to the door. anyways i was jsut wondering if anyone has ever tried this and what i could use to make it stick better ie. what type of paint, use primer?also how hard is it to remove the dash? would it jsut be easier to tape everyhting off and paint it inside the car?

and jsut some more info. the interior was ugly brown, but is now a nice black

Did you properly clean all of the surfaces? Also I wouldn't oaint in the car because of over spray, and being in a closed area. :batman

Iv'e done it and tried it all. I used vinal coat or something like that I'll give you the name tomarro but it works great on solid plastic stuff like dashes and columns. But it flakes off of things like seats or leather that moves or flexes. I got the first can from pep boys. then I went to auto zone it did the same thing. I gave up I'm now looking for some nice black leather seats. I cleaned wet sanded added one coat a day still the same thing. If you find something that sticks to seats let me know.

Try it in an inconspicuous place first (like underneat one of the seats) and check it out like that...

The fabric paint works, but you have to take your time and put on many coats of that stuff. What color are you painting over?

I helped my friend paint the inside of his car. My recommendation is to do each coat very lightly, and let it dry. Too much paint will drip and it will never fully dry underneath.

Multiple layers give it a rich color and allow it to stick to the surface well. It takes time, but it's worth it.

I'm interested in painting my interior panels black too!!! This is something I really want to do, since I'm changing the colour of my car.

Its currently, or better yet USED to be, mauve (not sure what the stock paint code is for it) and I'm painting her red. I'd like my door inserts and glove box black.

Whats the name of the stuff you used to paint the interior? Does it sink in well?

ok the stuff i used is called "vinal paint" by "u-fix-it" or soemting liek that i find it sticks very well to anything vinal, but i also painted the little interior pannels it doesn't stick well to that, use a primer first i didn't now am kicking myself. make sure you clean everyhitng realy well i used somethign called "spitfire" its an industiral cleaner i got from my old job (got as in stole ;) ) its really good. but there is other things if you go to any house paint shop and ask for something to clean/prep the area they will give you the good stuff.

Where did you get it? I basically only look at stuff at erebuni.com or whatever it is.

Do you have the style/model of what one it is?

Thanks,

In my experiences the dye makes the carpet very stiff. It also has the same effect on the seats. But that is just my experience with it.
