the purpose behind it is to hide my bling bling WHEN I get my motor swap

I would probably want it something liike black/dark gray primer. Maybe some kind of high temp paint?

I did a search and they said black will attract heat, one suggestion is to use radiator paint, another person said to andioze it

hm..... so what's your take on that?

I think painting the intercooler will lower your cooling rate by probably 5%-10% not sure but seemed like that when I painted an oil cooler. If you do paint it don't do to many layers. Try to do one layer only.

im looking into swaintech for my intercooler, when i get one. someone emailed them and asked how much it would be, i think it was only around 50 bucks. but yeah thermal coating to help your intercooler perform better and its black to avoid attention...

Garrett showed no ill effects on efficiency when an intercooler is painted black. they did the testing themselves from what i remember. i wouldn't worry about at all. just light black spray paint coat.Shaun

Mine is painted with flat black Krylon. Unless you build up some thick coats, the effects should be minimal. I would explore the idea of a specialized coating as they are supposed to be better at transferring heat. It may stick better as well, considering I chose not to put primer on mine to keep the layer of paint thin. It has rock chips all over, but it still looks pretty much black, even after 2 years.
